Life on the cartwheel

Once upon a time there was an ant named DJ.One day it (or we will assume that it is a 'he') managed to climb onto an ox-cart.It was a 'roller coaster ride' for him.DJ was a self respecting ant but a bit foolish , so he started formulating laws about life.He observed that life was a repeating cycle of events.Once in a while he came very close to the dusty road, after sometime he was closer to the heavens, then again he got the feeling of defying gravity. He was having fun.(readers please mind that ants have very different notions about 'while','heavens',and 'enjoying life',Or I should explain this more, probably outside this bracket.So-) When an ant says 'once in a while' , it may be a matter of just seconds because ants have a very short term memory you know. And 1 metre above sea level qualifies as heavens for them.Or maybe ,if its a Roman Catholic ant probably he might fantasise about a more heavenly, i mean , a close to reality 'heaven'.Maybe an empty stomach coupled with infinite stock of sugar.(Funny how ants philosophize..!).Anyway the whole point of comparing ants with real human beings is that they are both foolish about life ,and are so lost when it comes to forecasting their own future(atleast I think so for this precisive point of time).

Back to DJs life:DJs theory of life consisted of 'cycling-effect'.Everything repeated. But DJ overlooked one thing - That it was going places and that life was not really repeating cycles. He didnt notice that everytime he saw the dusty road,it was a new piece of the road.He was moving forward in life and was .. em.. maturing.DJ was a plain failure at theologising. But anyway DJ was a lucky and god fearing ant, so he 'luckily' got down at a place were there was a lot of sugar, and lived his life happily ever after.Thats it all about DJ.Lucky ant.And I hope it was a good story.Storytelling is a gift from god I think.

Who was in my mind when I wrote about that ant in the pieces given above? Obvious - myself. If its not about myself,I wont be writing a blog in the first place.Such a selfish ___mon I am.(or am I?).Whatever thing I do in my life , I do it for myself. Its for my own satisfaction.Even the small acts which we usually label as charity. All the things I do is either funny, tasty, or satisfying my ego.I want to hint that all people are like this only, but I wont say it explicitly.Because I feel that formulating(I am not sure if there is such a word- anyway 'formulating' means "arriving at conclusions". for this articles-scope just let it override the dictionary).. because I feel that formulating is foolish and judging people is sin.It is Gods territory.(You need to judje situations and people offcourse but you cannot say the judjement- especially if it hurts someone. And afterall , making judgements is the whole fun about many things-like playing cricket .Or catching high balls).I think the ant is similar to myself. That was why I gave him a role in my story. Now I wonder how even the name of that ant matches my initials(DJ) .

Sometimes I thought that life cycled.EVery year christmas came with its magic, every year seasons come.Rain,fall,drought... powercut,...exams,MIGRAINES,lucky periods, confident periods, healthy periods, unhealthy periods, periods. Everything comes in cycles I thought.I think usually life fools us to think this way.and then an (non-repeating) EVENT happens.Something which reminds us that we are actually moving forward.Today(when I am typing this in notepad) is october 11.Sourav Ganguly announced his retirement a couple of days back.'End of an era' as I would like to call it.And yesterday I got into a project.. After almost one year of enjoying the famous software company 'bench'.It was not quite enjoyment for last couple of months anyway, with all the fear of sub-prime-crisis and possible lay offs hanging in the air..I would say it was a cliff hanger of a time for the last couple of months, personally.Kidney stones,Serious fever, backpain, fear of losing the job.. I dont want to formulate anything here, and I feel I should go to sleep now because its 4:47 am and I might get a headache in the morning. It will ruin todays watering plans.Me,dileep,Jose, panth and shibu annan and also maakan are planning for a round of Royal Stag whiskey this evening. And I am paying the bill.Because I am the one who got into a project.

Notes: (1).Nobody shall feel offended at the mentioning of 'roman-catholicness' of an ant.Because I am also absolutely roman catholic and so i have the authority.I even support the idea of having more kids and a big family.
(2).Please dont come to join us today for the 'watering' after reading this(Im goin to blogspot this now itself). We have only limited supply of whiskey.

zzz.. bye..

the ant analogy seems strange considering it has such a less time on earth to prove itself.

Good post. I liked your philosophical touch to it.

One comment - I don't think this 'Because I am also absolutely roman catholic and so i have the authority' is a well framed sentence. You being an Indian doesn't give you authority to speak anything about India. You still got to know what you are speaking about. Saying that doesn't mean I was hurt by your words. Its just that I feel that sentence of yours is not right.

Well written dude... flawless.. anyways I am manufacturing a comment..
The title "Crash landing to cognizant" is actually misleading.. So you were flying high in CET before this?? :-)
I thought our trajectories are close to the earth like a spy air craft skipping the radar..
How can we crash-land?? We can only park!! :-)

mate ... we know about each other well enough and we also know that we were not even driving there in CET.. we were crawling on all four..

personally, at a point in 7th sem i had doubts .. if i will be able to complete btech at all..

but now .. its all well.. not very bad

Do catholics have any character traits which distinguish them from others?
I heard this quote in a movie i saw recently(Intellectual aavanulla oru sramam aayirunnu)
"She has her hysteria and i have my catholicism"

And the guy sounded like catholicism is the opposite of hysteria.I saw the movie two days after i read this blog.

So i thought i'd clarify asking the god fearing preacher fearing roman catholic DJ himself(If he ain't too busy with the Cartwheel..)

Also you said something abhout dog behind the delivery van...is that coming up?

donichayen said...

Oh here is my selfish blogger-mate !! :)

Dude I dont understand that movie line.. sorry .. which was the movie anyway?

and about the dog.. it is still chasing the delivery van-so i cant reveal more ..(shy).. only u and me know about this

the dogs initials are the same also
"DJ"

haha
